Behind the scene of Ramones 1st album cover photo

The cover photo of Ramones 1st album, shot by
Roberta Bayley, is not only considered as her
most important work, it also became the most
iconic image of the rock'n roll history.

It is a permanent collection at MoMA in New York,
and one of 100 Greatest Album Covers by the
famous music magazine; however, it was not meant to
be the cover when it was shot. It was originally
taken at the PUNK Magazine photo shoot, then
used on the article, well before their record came out.
It was when their rather high priced photo session
for the cover ended up with bad result, Ramones
asked PUNK and Roberta for the photo, and
the classic Ramones album cover was born.

John Holmstrom, who was at the photo shoot, said
that making the Ramones pose was like "pulling teeth,"
but we all know it was well worth the effort.
