Documenting the movie Performance
Photographer Andrew Maclear sent us the article about how he managed to take photographs on the set of the film Performance.

Performance was directed by the visionary Nicolas Roeg and filmed in 1968, with unconventional cast; Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones and Anita Pallenberg, known as 'The Stones' muse'.
It bears the strong influence of 'Swinging London', which began in mid-1960s London and swept the world; the film now has a cult following due to its experimental and scandalous content.

Andrew was invited to the film set by his brother who was working there at the time; he was not only welcomed but also allowed to photograph actors during breaks, using the camera he had recently acquired.

Walking in the film set and photographing famous rock star sounds like a dream,
and seems the production people were incredibly open-minded by today's standards, but,
"from ’65 to ’70, the mood in London was marvelous – open, free, optimistic,” " says Andrew.
A half century later and now the photographs Andrew took became rare and invaluable documentation of the making of the film Performance!
