Godlis photos become album cover
Photographer Godlis recently got his photos on the cover of rock album.
Yo La Tengo, an alternative rock band from New Jersey would be releasing their new album This Stupid World next year; they asked Godlis to provide suitable photos to create the album cover, as well as decorate the inner sleeves of vinyl LP, booklets in CD package.
The front cover is based on the photo taken back in 2008 at the drive-in movie theater in the Adirondack mountains in northern New York; a promotion video of their song Fallout is also use this same photo with overlay of animated line drawing, creating a unique visual that go along with album and song.
The back cover has the photo of latticed window, which was shot at elevated subway station "in Queens NY in 2018 - while returning from a visit to my daughter's apartment", Godlis explains. But once become a part of the whole design, the window now seems to have some deeper message.
Both photographs have been also used extensively on their website（https://yolatengo.com/） and their SNS, meaning there are much more chances for people to see his photos in addition to his regular audience!
Godlis' photographs have been featured on the covers of autobiographies and albums in past, but those were primarily portraits of authors and musicians; now that Yo La Tengo used these photos, we can imagine the whole other possibility, and we hope to see his street photos to be used in many places in the future!
